Carl Brookes

Consultant Physician & Cardiologist - Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Having graduated from Oxford University and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, Carl Brookes continued his postgraduate education at the Hammersmith Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital. He received a DM from Oxford University on right ventricular physiology in 1999.

He became a Consultant Cardiologist and Physician at Hampshire Hospitals in 2000. He sees adults with all types of cardiac disease but has a particular interest in hypertension, coronary disease, stent implantation, heart failure, and pacing.

He ran the Medical Division at Hampshire Hospitals for 12 years with 1500 staff and a budget of £90m.  Now, as Medical Director for Professional Development, he oversees the development of links with primary care, the community, and provider organisations.  He has responsibilities for the implementation of Population Health Management and tackling Health Inequalities and is the Clinical Sustainability Lead for the Trust.
